Self-catering accommodation in Penmarc'h
At 80 meters from the sea, our holiday rental is located in Saint-Guénolé, a district of the village of Penmarc’h, in Finistère on the south coast of Brittany. The geographical position of our holiday accommodation, in the middle of the area named "Pays Bigouden", ensures you to have a good holiday whatever your desires and your main interests.
The beach activities and the water sports on number of very beautiful sands (Pors Carn beach and Steir beach, to cite only two sands in Penmarch); the surfing spots including La Torche (unless ten minutes), the sea kayak (see the seals which live in "Etocs" a group of rocky islets in front of Kérity) or during a visit in Glenan islands (there, it is easier to do kayak).
About walking and hiking, the GR34 (a marked path which runs alongside all the coasts of Brittany) passes at 80 meters from our seasonal flat rental. You will find numerous marked pathes from Saint-Guénolé, Le Guilvinec, Loctudy or around the Pont L’Abbé river estuary.
The area named "Pays Bigouden" is a very significant place for fishing activity in France. The fishing harbour of Saint-Guénolé , situated at 150 meters from our self-catering accommodation, is the 5th fishing port of France (there, we talk about unloaded fresh fishing) and the 1st sardine port of France. Every morning, you may be at the unloading of sardines; every evening, the inshore fishermen unload their fishing of the day; lastly, the deap-sea fishermen have not precise hours of arrival but it is generally in the evening when you can experience, a few meters away, the sorting of their fishing. The maritime district of Le Guilvinec (the first one in France) is made up of the fishing ports of Le Guilvinec (the second one in France), Saint-Guénolé, Loctudy and Lesconil.
The location of our vacation rental may you travel around the French Cornwell (Cornouaille) and so, discover this magnificent natural region. To do it, there is no lack of routes : let us cite some interesting points
. from Pont-Aven, eastward, up to the Pointe du Raz via Concarneau, Fouesnant, Bénodet, Pont-L’Abbé and Audierne
. from the Pointe du Raz, westward, up to Douarnenez via Trépassés bay, the Pointe du Van, the birds sanctuary of Goulien, the Pointe de Beuzec, …
The visits of historical heritage interest are also numerous, close to our guesthouse. For example, let us cite the sailors’ chapel Notre-Dame de la Joie (in Saint-Guénolé), the Eckmühl lighthouse (in Saint-Pierre), the church of Saint-Nonna (in Penmarc’h), the Tronoën calvary (one of the most monumental of Brittany), the chapel Saint-Vio (in Tréguennec), the Kerazan manor (in Loctudy), the Bigouden museum in Pont-L’Abbé (local clothings and headdresses), the medieval villages of Locronan and Pont-Croix, etc... However, let us mention the cathedral of Quimper and the Quimper Fine Arts Museum or, a few kilometers away, the "enclos paroissial" of Pleyben (it is an unusual parish churchyard with, inside a boundary wall, the church itself, a monumental entrance, a calvary and an ossuary).
